About Julie C

Julie C is a qualified primary school teacher working in schools in the UK for over 14 years. This teaching experience has shown Julie C the importance of supporting children’s language and communication development. Skills like comprehension, attentive listening and clear speech help children become confident and motivated learners!

Having completed a master’s degree in Translation (French to English) in 2020, Julie C decided to specialise in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). She did further studies to gain her TEFL certificate and was delighted to join the team at Happy English UK in 2021.

Julie C sometimes adds a touch of theatricality to her lessons. This might be, for example, a mime… a funny hat… a little song or rhyme… or a visit from one of her puppet friends! Julie C believes a playful attitude often helps ‘break the ice’ with her younger students, helping them relax and really enjoy speaking English. Julie C lives with her husband in the north of England. They have three grown-up daughters and three young grandchildren. Her favourite colours are pink and yellow, and her hobbies include tap dancing, walking and cycling.

Julie C takes part in a ‘Tapathon’ event each year to raise money for charities such as ‘Children in Need’. The ‘Tapathon’ attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the total number of people in the UK doing the same tap dance routine to the same song, on the same day, and at the same time.
Julie C is curious about the natural world and likes to learn about different animals and birds. She is particularly fond of parrots because they are so colourful, cheeky and chatty!
